(T)raining

We’ve had quite a cold and wet spring over here. Very good for the plants, very good for our newly installed rainwater collector system: Go washing machine, go toilets! Less good for our moods…

Then, all of a sudden, the sun came out. Hello vitamine D, bright-coloured dresses and sunburn! (Yes, lesson learned, never forget sunscreen. Subjects in the sun are always more exposed and vulnerable than they appear, especially white legs. It felt as if we had slipped spring all together and went straight to summer. Felt, yes. It lasted until last Saturday.

This morning when I left for work, it was pouring with rain. Hello waterproof jacket, cycling trousers and foul mood. At least I had my knitting with me on the train.

And as I watched the landscape drown as the rain lashed against the window, I thought to myself it would be nice to just keep riding that train and knit on, knit and ride until the sun decided to come out again. Of course, this is Belgium. Chances are pretty likely I’d have to stay on that train for weeks.

  1. I do like rainy days when I am snuggled up at home.
Double duvet + hot chocolate + gluten free chocolate chip cookies. Just a few things that help me get through the rainy days!
