Totally hooked!
Do you know that problem that you want to start on a pattern, but you don’t have the right hook? And that you then have to wait until you have the time to go to the store to get the right one? This happened to me a few times, so to avoid it, I thought I’d buy a set of them. I looked for a set in stores, but all they had were sets of five, starting at size 5 (US H/8) and going up.
So, once again, I turned my eye to the mighty old internet. However, a first search didn’t come up with all that much. I decidedto try my luck on the crochetpartners yahoo group. The lovely ladies there sent me some suggestions, and I decided to settle for the Boye set. They even sell them on amazon, how could I have ever missed them! But I soon found out that this set wasn’t shipped to Europe. Bad luck once again.
Another suggestion was to try ebay. And now, with the benefit of hindsight, I wonder why I hadn’t tried that before. I found Knitterknacks, a UK-based ebay shop that sells loads of wool-related stuff. They didn’t sell the Boye set, but they did have this colourful set containing 20 Graduating Aluminium & Steel Crochet Hooks sizes 0.6m to 10m (US 14 to P).
I really like their colours. And no matter what pattern I want to start, I will have the right hook at hand. And if not, I’ll go ballistic 😉
Awesome!!
I used to have a hook in satin green and grey.
Maybe, if I look into my ‘breinaaldendoos’ (that’s what is written on it) I’ll find some lost treasures 😉
