Crowned
Yesterday our little boy celebrated his first birthday. 1 year old already. I know it’s the oldest cliché in the book and all moms use it, but time flies by so quickly. It seems like only yesterday that I was waiting for his arrival.
You can’t celebrate your birthday without a crown. I used Mina Dotter‘s pattern as the basic pattern, but I altered the tips to make it a bit more royal.
I added some felt “juwels” to the tips. It’s not because our very own king Filip doesn’t have a crown to wear, that our own little prince can’t have some bling-bling.
To add the number, I put two layers of felt on top of each other. The bottom layer, slightly larger than the upper layer, I cut with pinking shears. I then cut the number from the upper layer and put it on top of the bottom layer.
In the back, I used a piece of coloured elastics.
And of course, no prince can be crowned without a throne.
And now I’m going to do my very best not to blink. Because if I do, he may already be celebrating his 2nd birthday when I open my eyes again.
Wat een schatje!
