Ever since I first learned how to crochet using Debbie Stoller’s Happy Hooker book, I’ve had my eye on this pattern. It just seemed a bit complicated, and I never found the courage to start them. But then, suddenly, there was this irresistable urge.
I wanted to make the bunny slippers in pink, but unfortunately, I did not have enough pink yarn left. And of course I didn’t have the patience to wait until I could buy some more. So I grabbed the leftover yarn from the Incognito and Incatnito cowls.
Now, these slippers are done using two threads at a time. So I thought I’d be original and mix two colours: grey and brown. Apparantly, this seemed nicer in my head, since I ended up with some kind of ugly blue, much resembling the felt-like stuffing for couches, if you know what I mean. Still, I worked on.
There seemed to be some mistakes in the pattern as well. I just didn’t get the right number of stitches, I was always some short. But since the pattern is quite repetitive, I just crocheted on, until I got the numbers that the book mentioned, and it worked out fine.
Once I got to sewing all parts together, I started to like the colour more and more. And as soon as I got the bunny faces on, I was smitten. I love them, and they are going to get me through a cold winter! My husband has even ordered a pair as well. He doesn’t want the bunny ears and face though, just the slippers. But I’ll think of something!
Now, since I had to take a picture of the new slippers anyway, I thought I could just as well show off my finished socks as well. I got over the second sock syndrome, and finished them up. So you get two for the price picture of one!
