Before we left on holiday, our little man’s bucket hat (one that never made the blog, it seems), went missing. And eventhough everyone assumes it always rains in Scotland, I didn’t want to leave without a hat. And luckily we didn’t, since it turns out it can get rather hot in the Highlands.
Time for a new hat. And since there’s no point in changing a winning team, I used the Olivier+S pattern again. This time I recycled a deserted pair of hubby’s jeans for one side of the hat.
On the other side, I used cotton from Georgette.
Since the cotton fabric was too lovely to throw out the leftover cuts, I used part of it for applique.
First time I tried that, and it turns out to be pretty simple.
In the end, it turned out that the lost hat was hidden in a backpack. But it also turned out that it was getting too small. And a new hat with applique, looks a lot more fancy. Both when it’s sunny
And when it’s rainy.
As long as it covers at least one eye.
